Presence Not Performance: 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

It’s estimated that 450,000 people currently practice yoga in the UK and it’s a growing industry. The yoga industry has changed dramatically in recent years; the advent of social media, yoga and body image and the McDonaldisation of an ancient practice. There are important questions and debates on going in the industry, of course the practice must evolve to meet the challenges of modern life.

Rosie is looking for people who want to be part of the evolution of yoga and meditation. Let’s take it in a direction that marries integrity and wisdom of traditions with our modern lifestyle.

What am I going to learn?

  • Sales and marketing; taking your brand out into the world

How will I be assessed?

  1. One practical exam (teaching)
  2. One multiple choice exam which covers anatomy and philosophy
  3. Coursework in the form of worksheets
  4. One short piece of written work in the form of a book review
  5. One video and personal observation of a teaching practice
  6. One case study (this can be the same as video) of a student practicing 3 times with you
  7. 5 written sequences (these can be the same as your case study)
  8. Participation in discussions.

Meet your instructor
Rosie Iles-Jonas

Rosie Iles-Jonas

The lead teacher is Rosie Iles-Jonas who has been practicing yoga since she was a child and teaching classes, workshops and retreats full time since 2015, with over 2500 hours teaching experience. She teaches at the Float Spa Studio in Hove and all of her sessions are open level, as the role of a teacher, to be of service to students and show how yoga and meditation is for every body type. In her career to date, she’s taught diverse populations including complete beginners, cancer survivors and Premier League footballers. She’s completed training courses on social media and branding because to be a commercially viable yoga teacher requires business acumen which is included in this teacher training. Rosie has a podcast, completed four teacher training courses herself and co delivered a teacher training in 2019.Rosie is currently studying for a Masters in the Traditions of Yoga and Meditation at SOAS University of London. Her focus includes philosophy, challenging the beliefs about asana (postures) and gender; how we’ve been socialised to hold our bodies, and the affect that has on tissues and wider gender constructs.
